When input from PS3 or computer the picture is absolutely amazing I invited my brother over to show him how awesome it looks to play high definition computer games on a 42 1080P TV and he was blown away He plays on a 24 1900x1200 computer monitor and he was surprised at how the picture clarity was still there even when the same picture is stretched out nearly 4 times as much 24 to 42
The quality and aesthetics are spot on as well It rivals Samsung in all ways Excellent picture very sleek styling and sturdy construction
The only con is the remote where it is very large and must be pointed nearly directly at the sensor otherwise the TV will not respond

Pros Support 1080p over component VGA and HDMI Vivid colors and very crisp picture quality Handles SD content very well
Cons Black Level is not deep Dynamic Contrast is very obvious when doing it s task is best when off HDMI has issues with the Pre June 2007 firmware and PC mode The noise reduction filter is lackluster at best
Additional Points BAD CUSTOMER SUPPORT Thanks to the AVSForums it was discovered the HDMI issue with PC mode over HDMI was a firmware issue This issue could be resolved by turning the TV off and back on when using the HDMI but that is not a very convenient solution When contacting customer support about this they not only lied about there being a newer firmware but I was also told by one of the agents that I was making up these issues because they had the TV and did not have any of the issues I was having > > I was able to fix the issue at a later time due to someone on the AVSForums sharing a unlinked webpage on the LG site having firmware upgrades and instructions Although this was not shared until about 1 year after owning the TV
Breakdown When this TV came out it was the only TV under two thousand with 1080p support on component VGA and HDMI I am a happy owner of this TV and the overall quality and build of this TV is great but at its current pricetag on Amazon new and used it is not worth the cost With the same money you can buy a better TV that isn t almost 2 years old and outdated based on the newer sets

LG 42LGX 42 Inch 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV >> Beautiful TV as well as picture with sleek 1 8in design I searched high and low for a 40 to 42in TV and this was the best deal on the market I was being told by salesmen and reviews that Samsungs had the best picture and I found them to look pretty good as well But for the price range I was in 1000 I was not finding the specs I wanted 120Hz 42in 1080p auto light adjust swivel base As a matter of fact it was very hard to find a reputable TV maker with a 120Hz 42 in that price point Then I stumbled across the 42LGX I thought the TV was stunning looking with the scarlet red on the back the chrome colored base and the clear see through power circle It had all those specs and the picture was absolutely stunning I looked at it side by side next to a comparable Samsung and the pictures were very similar When comparing to the Samsung models in the same price the picture was better Samsung would only offer a 60Hz TV at that price point with a 40in screen It just looked way smaller The LG was a no brainer The only thing that made the decision difficult was the 42LG70 It had the exact same specs but it wasn t 1 8in thick It was on clearance as a display model for 850 and the LGX was brand new for 999 The Samsung closest in price and features was about 1300 I ended up buying at Fryes Electronics with a 5 year warranty and I m very happy with the deal
I use the TV with my computer I disconnected my cable TV to watch movies and TV shows over the internet and it works great I use Windows Media Center and I have no problem getting full and wide screen shows in high def I also use a video capture card that gives me all the features of a HD DVR I get HD over the air and it looks way better than cable or satellite on this TV The TV works very well as a second monitor with the DVI connection You cannot tell if you re watching TV piped from the computer or directly on the TV it looks that good Also when people see it they can t believe I don t have cable
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone Easy to set up I didn t even make any changes to the color settings at all Right out the box it looked great And the menus and just so simple It s fairly light connections are easy to make it s just a great looking TV If you can find it on sale buy it You won t be sorry >> 42 LGX TV The best looking picture I have ever seen TV adjusts to different light as you turn them on and off Very clear and crisp picture Sound is amazing don t even need surround sound

LG 37LG30 37 Inch 720p LCD HDTV >> a solid choice but I will say that I think this is a great TV for the price It has a lot of nice options and the HD looks great This LG would have gotten a solid 4 stars
The only drawback The sound is terrible 1 star The internal speakers don t cut it The sound on a regular channel is okay but not great once you get to an HD channel forget it the sound bottoms right out
You can turn the volume to 100 and still miss dialogue even with the clear voice option on and yes I ve had my hearing checked its fine
Maybe I m being picky but I have a Samsung 40 and the sound on that tv is great nothing more needed I will need to get a surround sound system for the LG to be able to enjoy it more and hear it when I m more than 3 feet away
Overall the money saved in getting this model balances things out I m not too upset over having to get a surround sound system for it
Bottom line this TV is a solid purchase just be prepared to sink some more money into some better sound >> LG Customer Service is Old Fashioned and Top Notch Like so many others I was pleasantly surprised that while looking only at the best name brand 32 and 37 inch LCDs I happened across an LG and found it to compare very favorably
I had committed to buying only Samsung Sony or Sharp LG changed all that Great features competitive price and seemingly superior image quality tempted me but it was the comments on line regarding customer service that sold me
Well I love this TV it s been a dream however after 9 months I had reason to need LG s customer service
The TV has intermittently stopped responding to the remote controls
I found my manual and called LG I was speaking to Scott in customer service after the shortest most sensible phone menu I have encountered Scott was helpful and courteous He scheduled a repair to come into my home the next day
Folks this is important You must consider this when buying
I can recommend this TV without reservation but more so I can recommend LG as they will stand by the product and the customer if things go wrong

In my studying of which LCD TV to buy for myself including options of sizing brand names etc one of the things I kept running across on different websites and forums was when talking size When Does 1080p Become Irrelevant Some said smaller than 42 you can t tell the difference Others said smaller than 40 you can t tell the difference Even though the inner me the guy that desires the newest and bestest of what technology has to offer wanted to choose a 1080p model it didn t matter once I realized I was going with a 37 LCD TV I knew it would behoove me financially to choose the 720p model And I am glad I did
Aesthetically pleasing design Truly fantastic picture quality Brand name LG Remote control is simple and easy to use The menu options are clean and not complicated
In closing do yourself a favor if you re gonna buy an LCD TV that s only for the sake of using a number 40 or smaller set your pride aside and choose a 720p model Supposedly you won t be able to tell the difference either way AND YOU LL BENEFIT FROM IT FINANCIALLY

I have this one wall mounted a little to the right of my wall mounted computer LCD and the viewing angle is perfect I have a little pair of Logitech X 140 speakers plugged into the headphone jack on back and the sound is absolutely awesome Inexpensive Sony progressive DVD also hooked up and with component hookup to TV the DVD picture is breathtaking
For the money I couldn t have done better than this little 20 LG as the center of my office television viewing I m glad I took time to compare models and that the Samsungs gave me eyestrain right off the bat That sealed the deal I can watch my LG 20LS7D for hours with no eyestrain

LG 50PG60 50 Inch 1080p Plasma Frameless Edge HDTV >> Great TV but only lasted 16 months We bought this tv 16 months ago and have totally loved it However while watching it it totally quit working about a week ago It made this zap sound and cut off and had absolutely no power at all My husband seems to think it s the power supply however we have to pay 75 00 for a service call just to get them to come get it and then to diagnose it will be even more It looks like a power supply is anywhere from 175 00 to 300 00 plus labor I would assume We are dealing with our local store JEFF LYNCH and even though this is the second big screen TV we have purchased and also all of our kitchen appliances they do not seem overly concerned at all We ve dealt with the same sales person for every purchase but yet he still isn t going to go above and beyond to help us Overall it s just disappointing for what these TVs cost you would expect them to last longer than one year
UPDATE it was the power supply and 300 00 later we have the tv back in working condition /

The sound seems really good I am used to the big speaks so I am a little skeptical Will add to this review if my option changes >> Love it Love it Love it I bought this tv to replace my Toshiba 46 LCD 1080p I really did like my Toshiba but there is no comparison between the two I was a little hesitant at first due to all the rumors you here about plasma tv s but after I did my research I found most of them to be false The picture is amazing The setup and operation is fairly easy also At the store I did notice the settings on the plasma tv were set to make them look darker than the LCD s This plasma has a Vivid picture setting that brightens the picture and improves the color I have my tv wall mounted in our family room which has 3 large windows and I do not have a problem with glare I am not an expert by far but I will say if you decide to buy this tv you will not be disappointed I was so happy with LG I went back and bought one for my bedroom not as big though Hope this helps Thanks

LG 47LC7DF 47 inch 1080p LCD HDTV >> Good buy Gave this TV four stars but a high four stars after only having the set for a few days Have NOT hooked up a Bluray player and to my understanding so far that s the only source where you will CURRENTLY realize 1080p resolution My cable box delivers 1080i and there may not be much of a difference but from what I ve seen in the electronics stores it does make a difference Don t get me wrong the picture on this LG is really nice but because I haven t tried Bluray I don t see the very very high detail I do at the stores The stores have some TV s that are directly hooked to a Bluray player thus the fantastic picture So if you re thinking about this TV simply see the picture for yourself in a store with Bluray
Before buying this TV I compared its picture right next to a Sony and some Samsung s Every bit as good and in the case of the Sony better However I m disappointed with some of the views I ve seen while at home the biggest being the distance views of people s faces what looks to be about 10 feet or so away from the face Less detail there than when very close up Now that could be my cable connection or the signal coming from my cable box how the screen was shot etc Close up face pictures are fantastic
This size TV is really nice a true home theater experience and recommended minimum viewing distance from the set is about 8 feet Size does matter Ha Oh I wanted to mention this If you re in the market for a wall mount I priced them at the stores Cir Sity over 500 Worst Buy 350 I ended up getting a mount on Fleabay that great on line auction site for about 100 It s called the DUAL ARM LCD PLASMA MOUNT 37 42 50 58 63 SANUS 1 and it is one of the few wall mounts that will fit this TV Be careful at the auctions Some sellers will tell you their mount will fit but just look at their mount drawing that shows the dimensions Must be 400 X 800 mm to work
PROS ON THIS LCD Nice picture and even though I ve read other reviews on the poorer black coloring I ve not noticed a problem with that Love the User 1 and User 2 and other picture quality setting options Yes the settings make a difference when viewing HD or regular TV Access these quickly by sliding the plastic cover on the remote and hitting Picture simple Love the size of the screen and the overall look of the set Sound is average and a home theater system with a set like this is really the icing on the cake Installation was pretty straight forward You don t have to be a rocket scientist to hook it up Really like the USB hook up to show your home photos or to listen to your home music Like the side mounted USB and S video access and find the rear access not an inconvenience I like being able to hook up my computer to the set too This TV does a great job of showing good quality from stations that do not have HD too Very nice picture
CONS ON THIS LCD Don t like the lessor quality picture in distance views but as mentioned that could be my cable connection or what the movie was filmed in better or worse definition etc Varies with what you are watching The information in the manual that comes with the TV is very poor and the on line manual and included C D is no better It tells what the buttons on the remote are for and how to hook the TV up etc but nothing is really explained Nothing I guess the only way to get more info is to go directly to LG or through an on line forum
I guess the bottom line is just because it s an HD LCD TV don t expect this or any other HD set to give you a fantastic picture all the time Too many factors such as what broadcasters are filming in your personal settings your cable company s set ups etc Do NOT watch the TV with the picture settings that come from the factory You must go through all the settings and adjust them to your own eye Only then will you get a good picture
But if you re on the line of whether or not to buy it truly is a home theater and I couldn t recommend it more highly That being said the news said that LCD s should drop in price by half by the day after Thanksgiving You might want to hold off Good luck Jerry
Update I ve watched movies and have determined that the problem with the lessor quality of picture of people etc further from the camera or in the background is the result of programs and movies NOT in HD or shot in a lessor resolution The picture in HD is nothing less than fantastic >> Shopping at Amazon Great TV and a good seller and received my purchase as they had said but I only wish I would have waited a few days as the same seller was selling the TV for 200 less than I paid and besides I wish I would have investigated the company then I would have found out they was in my state and therefore I had to pay state sales tax on my purchase >> Solid purchase but shop around first While 1080p for this price is a decent value there are significant drawbacks in picture quality The black levels are not as good as more expensive brands or plasmas which impacts movies and cable the most The backlight is REALLY strong and gets really flashy/painful when bright scenes are suddenly displayed like commercials DVDs and Blurays look good but not great due to the black levels I found the XD engine helpful for movies but it also distorts the overall picture in my opinion Games look great on this tv the notorious motion blur on LCDs is still present but not very noticeable/distracting Overall this is a solid purchase but probably not the best be sure to shop around for other brands/deals before settling on this one

I d recommend LG products in other electronic categories as well >> Black Screen of Death I guess I ll jump on here and relay my experience of the Black Screen of Death I ve had the TV for just under three years and it gave up the ghost a few weeks ago Like others have said my TV began flickering at first Then the picture would disappear for 10 minutes or so and then return I followed all of the typical trouble shooting methods and then did an internet search to see if I was a moron Apparently I m not and others are experiencing the same issues I paid over 1 000 for this TV about 4 years ago and now it s a very expensive paper weight To make matters worse new 32 LCD tvs can be had for about 350 00 I guess this one will get tossed out because I see that people that have had their set repaired find the black screen to recur down the line
Well Black Friday is coming up I guess I m getting up early I believe I m done with LG and Insignia which LG makes >> Unbelievable I bought this television with a year warranty 11 months after my purchase the screen started going out at what look to be power flashes The power in my apartment isnt the greatest do to a diy landlord so I started re routing the power to other circuits in my home After the problem continued in outlets that my other electronics were on I decided to call LG They told me I was 6 days out of warranty but they would extend it Oh happy day After dealing with a repair man that I m going to call a drunk for 2 months I called LG and they sent me to another service center They replaced the main board which means they replaced everything but the speakers and the case Everything worked out right Not a chance 8 months after this replacement the exact same thing started happening The costumer service could only tell me that they could not authorize any other warranty extension I got transferred to management who said the exact same thing I now have a television that is unwatchable after less then 2 years To make things worse in the middle of all of this I bought an LG cell phone that now turns off when I try to use the text keyboard LG goodbye and good riddance

LG 37LG60 37 Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Gloss Piano Black with Scarlet Red >> Best in it s category Let s get the bad part over with first The only complaint I have about this TV is the sound It goes from 0 100 but there is virtually no difference once you get past about 55 It s fine at night but I have to use my surround sound system in the day This is by no means a deal breaker though since poor sound is a problem with just about every flat panel TV no matter how much you spend I bought this TV for three reasons First and foremost picture quality In it s category the 37LG60 is unsurpassed as far as LCD TVs go I did three months of research before making this purchase Of all the LCD TVs I looked at this one had the best stats It has 120 Hz Trumotion Sharp Samsung and Sony TV s of the same size only had 60 Hz Sharp has a 37 TV with 120 Hz but it cost 200 more and had lots of bad reviews The dynamic contrast ratio is 50 000 1 The best of the other brands was 30 000 1 At 2 7 ms the refresh rate is twice as fast as its competitors It has four HDMI ports while most others only have as many as three some only two What made this TV even more enticing was the price At 899 it was comparable if not cheaper than all the sets in its category This is my first HDTV but I know a quality picture when I see one A friend has a 40 Sony S series and he likes my picture better He also paid about 500 more than I did Unfortunately I didn t see many of this model available but if you can find one buy it This is the best 37 1080p LCD TV on the market I hear there is a 61 series coming out but I m sure it will be more expensive although probably well worth it I ve had it for about a month and have had no problems I will update in a couple of months >> Best HDTV Ever This is the best TV i have ever owned bar none first off it s 1080p with 120 hertz refresh rate and 2 7ms response I use it mainly for my PS3 for Blu Ray and games both look freaking amazing with an HDMI cable and whatever you ve read about the 120 hertz refresh it really does make a difference when playing COD 4 Bioshock or any fast paced game absolutely no lag of streaking and there s no lag in the controls either only thing you need to buy for this TV is an HDMI cable and a surround sound system because the speakers suck thats the only draw back so if your a hardcore gamer or a movie buff this is the TV for you >> INCREDIBLE TV You can t go wrong with this TV I had my eye on it when I found out CompUSA/Tiger Direct had it for 899 Well in February they had a 2 day sale over a weekend and dropped the price to 699 I didn t think twice Bought it on the spot This TV ranks right up there with my Samsung I have to admit that I am a Samsung snob when it comes to TVs but this thing is awesome

LG 47LG60 47 Inch 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV Gloss Piano Black with Scarlet Red >> AWESOME After a couple of months of researching LCD televisions I narrowed my search to Sony Samsung Visio and LG I saw models of the first 3 brands that I was interested in but couldn t find a store that carried the LG Scarlet until I visited Conn s when they were advertising a lower end LG model at a really great price I was checking that one out and just wasn t that pleased with it and then I noticed right above it was the LG 47LG60 Scarlet It was hands down the most attractive of all the televisions with an awesome picture So instead of buying at the store I came home and made my purchase through Amazon com and couldn t be more pleased with the service with the delivery and best of all with the television >> 47LG60 With red back and glowing circle OK lets talk about features that some people don t understand and would like if considering this unit It has 1080i resolution possibly best than can be seen by the human eye Resolution speaks for it s self
Now here s where people get cheap misinformed exc it has 120Hz Technology What does that mean Producers of movies sporting events TV shows and alike constantly move the camera unless your watching c span While moving the camera on a 60hz model you will notice blurriness It gets quite annoying to say the least if your watching an action movie it is not nearly as sharp as what you could possibly be watching Going with that The 120Hz Feature technology the screen faster so images are not blurred so much you can actually tell it s a stunt double or in the matter of sports view details much more precisely with out waiting for the slow motion replay
The combination of the 1080 and 120Hz IN THE STORE is usually under rated by poor wiring A proper DVI/HDMI cable MUST BE USED to get 100 of the TVs potential
Add this all together and based on my experience with Digital Cable HDMI Cable standard 1 3 and the 47LG60 I haven t left the tv I wish more/all channels came in HD
It s ridiculous to explain the resolution/detail It s like I never REALLY was truly watching TV before this set Allow me to elaborate quickly I now see that the camera is not on a tripod in 90 of shows / movies it bobbles around constantly In fact now with the HUGE TV i find myself kinda getting motion sick / car sick because in bobbles so frequently Secondly I see every detail Not to name shows but you can see a SINGLE stray hair on an actress s head and be amazed that watching your nightly news the anchor man has dog hair on his suit visible now unseen before and finally Hollywood s actors act horrible their movements now in HD are MUCH more obvious and don t seem real
My evaluation buy yourself an awesome 1080 120hz LCD TV Get an HD tuner and watch TV for a week straight if you don t realize what you ve been missing in the first 5 minutes I ll invite you to come view mine the 47LG60 and watch me outburst with OMG do/did you see that Enjoy

>> Pleasantly Surprised When I first started looking for an HDTV for my husband and did some research I had decided to purchase a smaller Bravia or possibly a Vizio We walked into Best Buy and started looking at the specs on various models just to get ideas I had read earlier in the day that you should ignore the picture of the TV while in a retail store and only look at the hardware esthetics and the specs as some retailers will try to make certain expensive models look better than other models
With that in mind we began our actual comparisons and found that the models on the walls with the best specs were all well over 2000 We had decided that we definitely needed the 120hz rather than the 60hz in order to ensure we had the TV for a longer period of time and we wanted the 1080p not the 1080i After browsing and beginning to think we were going to have to go with a smaller 42 TV for the price point we wanted to stay with we met a salesperson who showed us this TV The picture was great the specifications were better than the Bravia s and Vizio s we were looking at and the sale price was 1299 00 We continued to review the specs and looking for the hitch We could not find one
We decided to bring the TV home that night with the understanding that we could return it within 30 days if we decided to but we have now had it for four weeks and we absolutely love it We sit about 6 7 feet from the TV and the picture is clear the TV easy to use and we have had to switch our DVR recordings over to the HD channels because everything on the regular channels looks awful because the picture is so good Note the contrast ratio on this TV is 50 000 1 vs the 30 000 1 you typically see on much higher priced TV s
We are very happy with our choice of TV and wouldn t switch it out with anything else we have seen
